This clock is amazing. The scale of it is even more impressive when you get it in person. While they have advertised it as a farmhouse style clock, to me it is reminiscent of English subway stations – perhaps because it has the words antique and London pop written on it. I had to go out and get a AA battery for it (the battery is not included), and then, of course, I first put it in the wrong way. But once I had the battery in correctly, sure enough, the giant hands began to move around and it is keeping pretty good time as far as I can tell.
My plan is to hang it in my office on a blank wall directly above my computer desk. Maybe the rest of the world knows what time it is at every moment, but I fail to have a good concept of it. So this large, friendly antique style clock will be there to remind me.
It is built surprisingly sturdily, and it comes with– believe it or not – an extra pair of clock hands. Since there is no glass covering on the clock face, it is conceivable that the hands themselves could get bent if handled roughly by accident.
This statement piece may not be for everyone who lives in a moderately sized house or apartment; it may have a greater appeal for someone who wants to put it in a large scale room.
But even those with small spaces might want to consider this piece as piece of art – whether ironic or sincere – or as a conversation piece, or simply as a way to let you know what time it is in no uncertain terms.
My only quibble, and the reason this is not a glowing five star review, is that the clock does not come with a secondhand. I cannot help but think how dramatic it would be to see the second hand just sweeping around the dial. Other than that, though, this one does not disappoint.
